The 3rd Global Forum of the Alliance of Civilizations that happened at the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro is an UN initiative that searches to contribute for a bigger reciprocal knowledge between populations from diverse cultures as a way to overcome the stereotypes in defense of peace. The Forum was opened by President Lula and counted with the presence of Chiefs of State and Government, the UN General Secretary and various foreigner representations as the one from the Republic of Benin, represented by the Consul in Rio de Janeiro, Excellency Mr. Cesar Augusto Maia accompanied by Dr. Rubens Sombra. The Alliance of Civilizations is an initiative that searches to mobilize the public opinion all over the world to overcome prejudices and flawed perceptions that, many times, lead to conflicts between States and heterogenic communities. It also aims to contribute to narrow the relations between societies and communities of diverse cultural and religious extraction, as to frame the fight against the extremism on the prevention perspective. The initiative acts in four priority areas: education, youth, communications and migration.
