Bahia organizes several events including exhibitions, dance and music groups’ presentations, lunches, diners, mass, meetings between the Government and the Delegation of Benin; especially with the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the Governor Jacques Vagner and the Minister Dilma Rosset. The cultural week took place close to the Black Conscience Day as the links between Benin and Brazil which refer to the time of slavery are very strong, since the major part of the slaves came from the Gulf of Benin creating a very big connection, which exists until now, between families and their descendants. The famous Largo do Pelourinho was the stage of several performances where together the Ballet of Benin and the band Olodum gave the people of Bahia a wonderful show.
