Signed on Monday (July 25) the Cooperation Agreement for Trade and Industry between Bilateral Chambers in Brazil and in Republic of Benin. The goal is to create a trade corridor between countries, clarifying doubts, strengthening ties and facilitating business activities.
According to the president of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Benin, Cesar Augusto Maia, currently, the Brazilian companies already trade with the Beninese ones, exporting mainly grains, such as rice, and products of various sectors. He recalled that recently Petrobras bought 50% of the oil block in Benin, now in seismic process, which should last a year and a half, and then evaluate the drilling system.
Cesar Augusto Maia, who is also consul of this African country, also noted that, last week, a Brazilian company signed an agreement to explore the sector of road transportation in Benin. To Maia, the agreement signed this Monday will further intensify the commercial relations. He affirmed that, accordingly, should be realized before the end of the year a seminar at the Commercial Association of Rio de Janeiro (ACRJ) with the participation of businessmen and authorities of both countries.
As for the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Benin, Ataou Soufiano, the country has great intention to increase the volume of business with Brazil, especially learning new techniques and expertise in the sectors of trade, industry and services. “Benin is growing and relies heavily on the help of Brazil to develop its activities. We are an emerging country that understands the need to open up to new markets and recognizes in Brazil his great partner”, he said.
Soufiano also noted that he has the intention to learn with the Brazilians new techniques to develop tourism, since Benin is potentially favorable to this activity which is still very primitive in the country.
Present at the meeting, the ambassador of Benin in Brazil, Isidore Monsi, praised the relationship between both countries and affirmed he believes that from this Agreement on the trend is that it will intensify even more. In a tone of wonder and relaxation, the diplomat said he plans to schedule a football match between the national teams of Brazil and Benin and believes in the possibility of a tie.
The Republic of Benin is in West Africa, has 112 thousand km² and a population of 9 million inhabitants.
